Salve for wounds
Sasha and Claire drove into the yard at about 6 am- later than I expected. She stopped at Indian Head to have a nap. I had 2 rooms set up for her and Claire but 10 minutes later I hear Claire coming into our space. “What’s up?” I say. “I’m going to sleep on the couch” she says. This is what she always did when she stayed here for great lengths of time. I think it was to be close to us. I said “You might as well crawl in with me”. She told me she might kick me I said I’d kick her back and in she crawled.
When I realized she wasn’t sleeping I started to talk to her and I told her a few things. I am so glad you are here. We will get through this together. Her response? I am glad I’m here too and yes we will get through this together. Those words were immediate salve on any of my wounds.
When the kids were little they used to go to the furthest corners of the room and run and throw their little bodies up and onto to our high mattress. They often asked Lee to go sleep somewhere else so they could sleep with Gramma Tattoo. This started as 2 kids. I got no sleep so got narrowed down to one then none as I got kicked a lot. It was never any worse than the kicking I got from Lee.
The dvd will be salve for my wounds too. It is such a great tribute to Lee.
